They always say "Good job Marine."
Then we at some point say "Wait a minute!"
I feel like it took me far to long lol.
No hard feelings towards anyone on my end. I love this game we play. I am so forever grateful to our Corps. I knew exactly what I was getting into. I am here for this. Leaders I think are congregating on platforms like this. Might as well use the voices they gave us for whatever reasons they gave them. Now they're ours.
Thoughts?
hahahaha Cannabis, huh!? You wicked sinner! Chesty would SHIT! Ok, he'd probably roll one up with you. He'd probably need it. Anyway, you've experienced alot of different angles of things in your life, Eddie. Use that voice and platform to make sure we didn't go through all of this war and retained none of its lessons. Whether personal, like the PTSD shit we talk about, or tactical, like the net-war stuff we discussed. You especially have a voice, brother. Use that shit and we will amplify it however we can. Always Beside You, brother!
At the time of writing I was in reflection coasting asking on ethereal castors if Cannabis. I am a little bit unique because I have experienced being the proverbial "Show Pony." The experience for whatever reason granted overwhelmed me for a bit. I'm just a regular dude who didn't want to die and especially didn't want to let my brothers down. No Hero. I have the ability now from time passed to observe a larger picture. The battlespace now encompasses an understanding of who makes the calls or who issues the orders. From the top down all the way to those of us who implement or better yet shore up the racket. I can see the different motives, the greed, the wanton disregard for patriotism over self interest etc. But though I can now say assuredly "Wait a minute!" I can do so without bitterness or resentment. I have no sense of betrayal. I know why I do what I do. I am different than most and adjoined to the best by the integrity I applied to the ideology I believe in. I'm in it for that intangible. It is mine.
Now I have a voice. Now I see better. Now we all do.
I’ve thought about this a lot. If I’m picking up what you’re putting down I get it. You can never be told that you did it right when your training to be perfect. Did anyone ever come up to you while you were in and say: “That was so awesome, you did perfectly, good job Marine, congratulations you are the shit!”? Hell no. No one has ever uttered those words in the history of the Marine Corps. If you don’t think you suck, you’ll never be amazing. And the more you think that you need to catch, up the better you’ll be than them. It’s the only way it really works. That being said, a few years ago I learned that I could reach across and pat myself on the back and say “Well done. You did good. You are actually kind of a bad ass.” It is not arrogance. It is objective truth. And you can give yourself that pat on the back because it’s true. Because no one from the Marine Corps is going to chase you down and do it. I highly recommend it.
