My name is Jenny. My friend Dottie asked me to post my and my husband’s story to spread the word about Stellate Ganglion Block treatment for PTSD.
My husband Dale has had a long struggle with PTSD. Even though he was in the army, his PTSD came from years in the fire department as he was in the military during peacetime. Even after 6 years of intensive treatment, all he had accomplished was learning to live with his symptoms. Still, he was dealing with almost daily panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, and aches and pains that didn't make any sense. His sleep was horrible, he couldn't concentrate, he was hyper aware at all times and would get frustrated and even angry and the smallest things.
We first heard of Stellate Ganglion Block therapy (SGB) last year during a charity motorcycle ride for a foundation called "For Love of a Veteran" based out of Hanover Pennsylvania. This foundation pays for veterans to receive SGB treatment, which has a 85%+ success rate of eliminating PTSD symptoms after 1 treatment. We didn't think much of it at the time and were actually quite skeptical until a high school classmate of mine posted he had the treatment done and it changed his life.
The short description is the SGB temporarily disconnects the impulses that the "fight or flight" center of the brain receives from the body and allows it to reset.
Dale received the SGB treatment from Dr Sean Mulvaney in Annapolis, MD. Dr Mulvaney is one of the pioneers of this treatment and has performed over 4000 of them over the last 10 years.
Within 3 minutes of the treatment, Dale felt the tension leave his body and the "noise" in his head disappeared. The fear and anxiety was gone. He couldn't even force it to return. After DECADES of silently suffering, he was calm. It was emotionally overwhelming.
Two months later, I also received the treatment. My PTSD stems from childhood trauma and a series of traumatic deaths in my immediate family, including a recent one. Although the procedure doesn’t “cure” grief, I find myself much more calm post procedure. My restless legs syndrome is gone and I’m finally getting restorative sleep.
The best way I can explain SGB and what it does is by sharing this video from Dr Mulvaney. Dale and I want to get the word out that this treatment can be life changing for those suffering with PTSD, particularly for veterans and first responders.

Thank you so much for posting this, Jenny. And thank you Dottie for passing the word!
These are options that our community needs to be aware of.
Anyone else ever tried this treatment? Very keen to pass this along. Thanks Again!
